Overall Functions
This person manages the mortgage banking activity of the Bank in an efficient and profitable manner. This person must provide organization, leadership, training and guidance to all personnel in this area. This person will be responsible for developing the leadership team within the mortgage department, helping them develop and execute on business plans that grow their respective markets. This person should have an eye on the future of the mortgage business, helping the operations manager and regional mortgage banking managers execute on strategies that position the mortgage department for long term scalable growth.

Qualifications
This person must have a bachelor's degree and a minimum of ten years of work-related experience or the equivalent. This person must have demonstrated skills in real estate loan underwriting, operations, and personnel supervision, business planning and execution. Excellent communications skills, organizational, and planning plus the willingness to work with others is required.

Responsibilities
1. Lead the team and develop an atmosphere of teamwork, open communication and unity. Provide oversight of all services offered. Actively mentor staff and ensure they are trained, evaluated, and motivated to perform their responsibilities in an effective and progressive manner.
2. Formulate and monitor departmental goals in the short and long terms.
3. Work with manager and other leadership in the bank to align the goals and objectives of the mortgage department with that of the bank overall. At minimum, develop an annual business plan that has clear objectives and measurable key results.
4. Keep current on all laws and regulations that impact the Bank's mortgage banking activities. Ensure that the Bank's Loan Policy and Guidelines are updated and maintained in a manner that all real estate loans are in compliance with the applicable law and regulations. Ensure that all business development efforts are in accordance with all applicable laws and regulations.
5. Ensure that all employees are properly evaluated, coached and trained using the resources provided by the bank, when appropriate, through other means.
6. Serve as a resource for other business unit personnel of all aspects of mortgage lending banking.
7. Attend informational seminars and meetings, study resource materials, and keep up-to-date on
industry developments, ideas, and standards, which affect the services of the Bank. Remain
current on industry developments that affect the mortgage services of the bank. Bring forward
thoughtful and proactive strategies and products that help keep the bank competitive at a high
level in all the markets it serves.
8. Represent the Bank and provide leadership in key community activities, including business,
charitable, civic and social organizations to maintain a proper responsible citizen stature for the
Bank.
9. Act in accordance with First Bank & Trust policies and procedures as set forth in the employee
handbook.
10. Adhere to compliance procedures and participate in required compliance training.
