The American Chamber of Commerce Doesn’t Exist

Scammers are now targeting small businesses. They are posing as representatives from the American Chamber of Commerce. A “chamber representative” will call and ask to verify general business information. Sometimes they will even ask to verify employee information. The catch: there is no American Chamber of Commerce. It should not be confused with the legitimate organization – the U.S. Chamber of Commerce.

Information that you supply to the American Chamber of Commerce will likely be sold on the black market. It will be used for corporate identity theft, or possibly to target your business for a myriad of other scams. The best thing to do if you receive a call from someone claiming to be from the American Chamber of Commerce is to hang up the phone.
