EMV Technology Upgrade
Protection for Your Business
Credit card processing technology is undergoing significant changes. You have probably heard about the new “chip” technology that is more commonly used in European countries called EMV (Europay, MasterCard, and Visa) – designed to protect both you and your customers against credit card fraud.
EMV equipment is not currently mandatory in the U.S., but it is highly encouraged. And, most importantly, as of October 1, 2015, merchants who do not implement EMV-capable terminals will be liable for counterfeit card-present fraud. By choosing to upgrade to a terminal that accepts EMV-ready cards, you will shift the liability for fraud back to the card-issuing bank.
Verifone VX520 Contactless Terminal
With the shift to EMV technology rapidly approaching, we recommend that merchants consider upgrading their equipment. The Verifone VX520 DC EMV CTLS is comparable to most of our current merchants' terminals, and it offers EMV and Apple Pay™ capabilities.
